The Amp > Backups

Backups

The thing about backups is:

Making a backup

Here is how:
  1. Connect the amp to your PC and start Line6Edit (any version).
  2. Once the connection has been established, press the Bundle Get button. It's one of the four larger hard-to-read graphical buttons.
  3. Select a directory and a filename. Using the date in a filename, like backup 071004 works well for keeping track of things.

Restoring from a backup

What is a backup without the ability to restore it?

Here is how:

  1. Connect the amp to your PC and start Line6Edit (any version).
  2. Once the connection has been established, press the Bundle Send button. It's one of the four larger hard-to-read graphical buttons.
  3. Select the bundle in the left panel (it has a little blue briefcase like icon in the list).
  4. Answer Yes to the next 3 confirmation dialogs, and that's it.
It takes 3 confirmations! Line6 developers think we're all morons. Anyway, that's how easy it is.

Backups with Line6 Monkey

With Line6Monkey you can also make backups. They come out different in size and at one time Line6 told me they cannot be used to restore with Line6Edit.

Why are there different backup formats, you ask? Well: no good reason. Just another design decision by Line6, I'm sure.
